Jan 2012 Guitar Journal – Rhythm Practice for Beginners: A New Strumming Pattern for your Repertoire

Here’s a lesson for those of you who are learning your chords and strumming patterns.

For those of you with just a few chords under your belt, this example is easy to play. It is based on the America song “Horse With No Name”, but since chords and rhythms cannot be copyrighted, we’ll learn this for fun. It’s a simple 2 chord and rhythm pattern that is great practice, and gives you a quick and easy song you can now jam on with friends.

This lesson is in the style of our “Learn to Play Guitar For ABSOLUTE Beginners”. DVD, although for the guitar journal I use just one camera, whereas the DVD uses two for a closer view of both hands. Even if you don’t have the DVD, you should be able to follow along with this free lesson without any problems.

Please use the youtube comments to let me know what you think! I am working on getting the site comments section going. I’m still learning this website stuff…

best,

joe

The “Snark” guitar tuner is really very cool – if you want one, and want to support the free lessons, then order via our Amazon link here: Snark SN-1 Tuner
